Oil Search Limited 101 Pacific Games Baton Relay Begins

Extra ordinary start to a day for me today. Had to meet with an old counterpart from Oil Search Limited and after the meet, he invited me over to witness the the launch of the "Oil Search Pacific Games Relay".
The relay was officially launched by the Prime Minister , Peter O'Niel in the presence of the 2015 Pacific Games Committee,  Gerea Aopi, Executive General Manager, External and Government Affairs and Sustainability at OSL, Sports Minister Hon. Justin Tkatchenko, Governor for NCD, Powes Parkop, and Donald Agarobe, Councillor for the Motu Koitabu Village, Gabagaba.
The baton relay will leave the shores of and NCD and travel to the other 19 provinces in the country.
Totally appreciated the Gabagaba villagers for their singing at this event as well..

Smithsonian Team Visits PNG

By Carolyn Ive January 26, 2011, Port Moresby -- A team from the Smithsonian Natural History Museum visited Papua New Guinea on a fact-finding mission January 13-22. According to the director of the museum, Christian Samper, the purpose of the trip was to highlight the work of the Smithsonian, while offering assistance to PNG’s National Museum. Possible areas of cooperation include documenting and sustaining endangered languages and knowledge. “When a language disappears, knowledge crucial to understanding, humanity and the natural world is lost forever,” said Joshua Bell, curator for Globalization. Bell began his anthropological research in the Purari Delta in 2000. “Languages are disappearing fast, and with it goes the knowledge,” said Bell. “This issue has become a major area of research,” he said.
