Interesting Times For People of Orokolo Bay

Hi all it's been a while since I blogged.

Kinda got busy do other things and this just took the backseat, so I have more time on my hands now so I thought I'd return and write something.

Alot has been happening and I really don't know where to start. But one thing that comes immediately to my mind is the recent Landowner Benefit Identification (LOBID) process that is in progress right now in the Gulf Province of Papua New Guinea.

The  LOBID process is an important process to ensure the landowners of the Papua LNG project are recognised to benefit from this multimillion kina project. In fact the process is underway as I write this.

This is the verifying stage where all ILG lists are confirmed before it goes to the Development Forum where the Minister for Petroleum and Energy announces or makes the Ministerial Determination.

An interesting time in the lives of the people directly affected by the pipeline as well as the wellhead up in the hinterlands of the Baimuru LLG in the Kikori District.

I recently return from home. I went to ensure my humble clan Mareke Village, Orokolo Bay had it's listing updated and our wish list or development demands were captured and were similar to those of the neighbouring clans and ILGs as well.

Education is key in matters of this nature. If we are not careful, an overload of information could confuse our simple villagers who are not educated enough to understand the technicalities of such projects and the benefits we can have to prosper for ourselves and our future generation.

The awareness for this project for my commuity started way back in 2016 with my siblings as well as close cousins. We started educatiing our villagers back in 2016 so as to be prepred for the project when it came online. An opportunity that will come once in our lifetime, so we needed to get it right from the start.

The journey has been interesting because in between this trips, we were also educating them on another huge project- The Ihu Special Economic Zone Project. Another project that will bring much benefit to the people of Ihu LLG as well as the Kikori District, the Province and country as a whole.

There is a lot more to talk about but I'll leave it in the next writeup or vlog.
