My View - Nixon Philip Duban - A Young Vibrant Prolific Leader Wins Madang Open Seat

Hon. Nixon Duban.
Hon. Nixon Duban giving a speech during a gathering outside Port Moresby

I first met him a year ago and instantly took a liking to him. The way he spoke about helping his people of Madang Province and the country as a whole always interested me.

You see are neighbors and I had the benefit of sitting with Mr Duban on many evenings over a cup of coffee or a 12 pack of PNG's favorite ale and never ceased loose ourselves in conversation about anything and everything.  And of course I would put my "two toea" in there and he was a person who wouldn't talk you down but appreciate your view. And he never ceased to do that when we were in group discussions as well.

He was strategical on how he was going to serve his people, even before the elections came along. In many ways he told me he would serve his people even before he would win that seat. And he did immensely well. I guess he was saying let my actions speak for themselves.

Yes it's not always to colorful promises you make but the genuine willingness and passion to do and set an example before you say anything. That was the way I saw the urge exerted by Duban.
