Link PNG Dash 8 aircraft burning at the Mendi Airport


It is unfortunate to hear and see what had happenned to the LINK PNG aircraft in Mendi, Southern Highlands Province.

This vital service providing links to other major services in the province has been cutoff now by this hooligans who think the world revolves around them.

It has created an uproar and disgust in other parts of the country especially hardworking tax payers.

There is a call for those involved to be arrested and sent to the cellars, meanwhile the Prime Minister has called for investigations into this incidents which included the burning down of certain government properties as well.

A sad day for the flag carrier.

Well it's been awhile since I've written something. Maybe because I've been moving around so much, I didn't seem to have the time to write up something. Anyway, I am now in Tabubil, Western Province, Papua New Guinea. I work as a Broadcaster with Radio Fly, a radio station that services the OKTEDI Mining Limited staff & contractors as well as the communities that benefit directly or indirectly from the resource. It's been what, four months now since I joined and it's been good so far. I must admit it is quite different from commercial radio but it's a different challenge at that. Rhythm Road the Johnny Rogers Band

Port Moresby, November 9, 2010 — Rhythm Road the Johnny Rogers Band arrived in Port Moresby November 6 to the enjoyment of local jazz lovers. Following in the footsteps of such musical legends as Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillepsie, and Duke Ellington, it is one of 10 American quartets specializing in jazz, hip-hop, blues and bluegrass touring internationally. The U.S. State Department sponsored the visit. The Johnny Rogers Band — John Rogers, Brian Glassman, Joseph Ravo, Daniel Mallon and manager Shana Bromberg — kicked off its five-day tour by rocking the socks of an A List gathering of diplomats, business executives, PNG government officials and members of the Port Moresby artistic and cultural community at the residence of U.S. Ambassador Teddy Taylor and wife Antoinette Corbin-Taylor November 7. He was in the country to review a logging proposal and its likely impact on the Foe speaking people of Lake Kutubu. Whilst the outcome of his study was in some ways predictable, the three months that he and fellow French masters student Laure Miaillier spent amongst local communities ended up being a remarkable experience for the couple. The WWF Kikori River Programme, based in Moro, hosted the students whilst they helped its project field staff develop a catchment management plan for the area surrounding Lake Kutubu, identifying threats to the region and gathering baseline scientific data. Lake Kutubu is the highest freshwater lake in Papua New Guinea, situated at an altitude of 808 metres.
